What we tested
Prove that the backup can be restored and the table contents match the source without overwriting the main database.
What we did
- Create a custom-format pg_dump with exit-code checks and atomic final file publishing.
- Record SHA256 and fingerprints for three tables.
- Restore into a separate test database and compare row counts and content hashes.
Test results
A 4,740-byte archive restored in approximately 6.03 seconds on this small dataset. Three tables matched the manifest. The main database fingerprint remained unchanged. Data also survived container recreation without deleting volumes.
Results apply only to this small synthetic dataset. Backups are not encrypted or offsite. The test target shares the PostgreSQL instance. This is not a customer RPO/RTO promise.
