What we tested
Verify that native backups restore to new destinations, match the source contents and retain the behaviour of representative objects.
What we did
- Prepare separate engine instances and synthetic data; test connections and rejection of incorrect credentials.
- Create native backups and checksums, encrypt copies, then restore to new databases or collections.
- Compare content hashes and representative objects; check constraints, indexes and refusal of existing targets.
Test results
All 67 checks passed: MySQL 18, MariaDB 18, MongoDB 12 and SQL Server 19. Restored contents matched and sources remained unchanged. Object coverage varied by engine; SQL Server also checked COPY_ONLY, CHECKSUM and VERIFYONLY.
Local tests on MySQL 8.4.13, MariaDB 11.4.12, MongoDB 8.0.34 and SQL Server 2022 CU21 Developer. Not proof for every version, workload, cluster, sharding or PITR. Developer licensing is for testing, not production.
